A fun day is being held to mark the official opening of Oakley Vale Community Centre, Corby.
Town mayor Judy Caine will officially open the centre, in Butland Road, on Saturday, September 21, at midday.
The event will run from 11am until 2pm and will include a bouncy castle and other attractions and activities for children.
Refreshments will be served in the centre’s community cafe and there will also be demonstrations in the main hall by organisations which are already providing services and activities for the Oakley Vale community.
Paul Balmer, one of the trustees and press officer for the centre, said: “We hope people will come along, enjoy the official opening and see demonstrations of activities they may like to get involved in.”
Events held at the new centre are advertised on a community notice board in Butland Road, which is sponsored by Oakley Vale Community Association.
The next meeting of the association is on Wednesday, September 25, starting at 7.30pm, when litter, noise from a A43 and a progress report on the estate’s second primary school will be on the agenda.
Other organisations and events at the centre include the Bright Beginnings Montessori Pre-School, 50 Plus keep fit, Shape dance class and pilate sessions, zumba class, Slimming World and the Wadzani African cultural project.
