FAMILIES are invited to a fun day to mark the opening of a new petrol station which has created 24 jobs.
The 24-hour Jet station at the Southern Gateway in Corby was being officially opened by Corby’s new mayor Mohammed Rahman today and tomorrow residents are invited to go along for a day of fun. The new jobs at the garage have all been filled by Corby residents, many of whom were long-term unemployed.
Employing local people was crucial to manager Kat Brown, who held more than 60 interviews earlier in the year to find the perfect candidates.
She said: “We are a local forecourt that serves the local community, so it’s fitting that our team is made up of Corby residents, who know the area and its people well.”
The fun day will take place from 1pm until 3pm and attractions will include face-painting, a Red Bull Formula 1 car, Highland dancing and food to sample.
The site includes a mini-supermarket, a Costa Express and hot food.
