The Britain’s Got Talent star Ashleigh Butler said she’s had a whirlwind few days after winning the popular talent show on Saturday night.

The 17-year-old from Wellingborough beat teenage opera duo Jonathan and Charlotte to scoop the £500,000 prize money and the chance perform at the Royal Variety Performance.

Speaking to the Evening Telegraph, she said: “It was just a brilliant experience. Our goal was just to get to the final. Winning it was a surprise.

“Throughout the whole series I thought Jonathan and Charlotte were going to win. I was ready to jump on them at the end.

“Everyone in the final was quite young and I became close friends with everyone – I hope that we’ll stay in touch.”

Since being crowned as winners of Simon Cowell’s show, the glare of the national media spotlight has fallen on the Wrenn School pupil and her talented six-year-old pet Pudsey.

They have been inundated with requests to do interviews and Pudsey has even got his own Facebook fan club.

Ashleigh said: “We are absolutely shattered, we haven’t had much sleep since the final.

“Pudsey has been running around for the last few days, from interview to interview. I think he’s had enough treats over the last few days though.”

Ashleigh said it gave her a boost to know that all her friends and family were watching the show together on a big screen at Wrenn School.

“I just thought that I didn’t really want to let anyone down. Everyone at school has been really supportive.

“I would also especially like to thank everyone from Wellingborough Dog Training Club – and everyone from Wellingborough for voting for me.

“I would also like to thank everyone for their support.”

The talented teenager is now considering her future career options, with experts predicting she’ll win lucrative commercial contracts.

“I’ve had quite a few offers, but nothing is confirmed yet,” she said.

“I think I have just got to see what happens. What would be really amazing would be to set up my own film company for animals in films.”

She was able to confirm there was no truth to the rumours that she and Pudsey had been invited to meet President Obama at The White House.

She said: “There have been a few untrue rumours over the last few days.”
