The Enterprising People: Introduction to Self-Employment course, which consists of four weekly workshops, is taking place between 1pm and 3pm every Monday from Monday, March 6, at Kingswood Community Centre.

The course is co-ordinated by Ruth Roan of Building Business Consultancy and explores a different theme each week, covering everything you need to know about self-employment and starting a business, including marketing on a budget, finance and the pros and cons of working for yourself.

The course is part of the wider Enterprising People project, which was launched at the end of last year.

The project is European Social Fund and lottery-funded and brings together several expert partners, like Ruth, who will work with individuals to get them back into work, into self-employment or on their way to setting up their own business.

Ruth, owner of Building Business, said: “For the past 10 years, Building Business Consultancy has been working with a range of businesses, developing plans to support growth, create jobs and identify new market opportunities.

“This course and the wider Enterprising People project gives those currently out of work access to resources and knowledge they can use to explore ideas and turn their skills and passions into a job or business.

“And who knows, in time, some of these people could be providing jobs for others in their local area.”

Places are limited to 15 people and those attending must meet some strict eligibility criteria.
