Groups, clubs and charities can hire a room for free as part of the £4m refit of a Tesco superstore.
A new community room, offering space where groups and charities can meet, host events and run sessions for free, is now open at the newly improved Victoria Park Tesco in Wellingborough.
It has been created as part of a £4m store refurbishment, including extra floor space and an improved cafe.
Tanya Marks, who has worked at the store for almost seven years in various roles including the bakery and dairy departments as well as on the check-out, is the new community champion.
She will be promoting the room and taking bookings as well as getting out and about in the community.
She said: “We have had a big push on doing more things with the community, I am really excited about it.”
The room has baby mats, computers, a tea and coffee machine, fridge, toilet and disabled access.
It can cater for about 25 people and is open Monday to Saturday. However, it is not available for birthday parties or strong religious groups.
Anyone wanting to use the room can call Tanya on 01933 375463 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
