A former Wellingborough and Corby Town footballer has died at the age of 77.

Peter Kearns, who grew up in Earls Barton and started his career at the Doughboys in the 1950s, went on to play in the Football League for Plymouth Argyle, Aldershot and Lincoln City. He died on Sunday, July 6.

He scored for Aldershot against Wellingborough in an FA Cup tie in November 1965.

Kearns finished his career at Weymouth, a club at which he was later a director. His funeral took place in the Dorset town on Wednesday.
