Racing fans are to get the chance to get up close to a state-of-the-art Formula One car.
The Force India F1 team, which is based in Silverstone, is bringing one of its cars to the Royal & Derngate theatre next week in the run-up to the British Grand Prix.
The car will be on display in the theatre’s Derngate auditorium from Monday, July 2, to Friday, July 6.
The team is riding high after its strongest performance of the year at the European Grand Prix, with drivers Nico Hulkenberg and Paul Di Resta taking fifth and seventh places.
The stalls seating removed will be removed to accommodate the car, which will be on display from 1pm to 5pm on Monday, and 10am to 5pm from Tuesday to Friday.
Members of the public can view the car and get their photos taken in front of it, and more information about the car and its drivers will be available.
Royal & Derngate operations manager Richard Clinton said: “Motorsport is so important for the area, so it’s great to have a car from our most local Formula One team here in the theatre for everyone to see.
“Not only are Force India based at Silverstone, but they also use the Mercedes engine manufactured in nearby Brixworth. It’s great to be able to showcase the car in our theatre space and it brings back memories of car launches and such like held here in the past. It’s also a great way to celebrate a world class event, like the Grand Prix, which is taking place on our doorstep.”
The British Grand Prix takes place from Friday, July 6, to Sunday, July 8.
