THE firm which runs The Castle theatre in Wellingborough has signed a 10 year contract to continue running the venue.
The Castle (Wellingborough) Ltd signed a new operating contract at a Wellingborough Council meeting on Tuesday (May 1).
The signing of the contract marks the end of months of negotiations.
Meetings and negotiations between Wellingborough councillors and the board of The Castle have been taking place since last July, following the council’s agreement in principle to award the contract to The Castle (Wellingborough) Ltd.
A spokesman for the theatre said: “Due to the uncertain economic climate, The Castle has made significant changes over the past year to its cost levels, however the Business Plan approved by both the Castle board and the council underpins the core ethos of The Castle, by putting quality and creative output at its heart.
“The Castle (Wellingborough) Ltd looks forward to continuing with the development of all the excellent work presented both at the venue and outside in the borough, as well as developing closer working relationships with the council in the future.”
Following the signing of the new contract the council’s Castle Committee, which was set up to deal with the negotiations, was formally dissolved.
