This year’s celebrations begin on Thursday, November 28, with the Christmas lights switch-on, the opening of a Winter Wonderland and the start of late night shopping in Kettering’s town centre.
Lighting up the town centre this year will be the cast of Snow White at the Lighthouse Theatre and star of The Snowman at the West End, Archie Durrant.
Host Gregg Nunney will be introducing performances on the evening from 5pm, including Banjara sensation Jeet Chahil, Starlight Dance and Musical Theatre School, Inspire Dance, Voices with Attitude and K-Factor winner Ellie Rowden, followed by the countdown to the switch-on at 6.30pm.
A magical Winter Wonderland will also be unveiled for the first time on the night where children will be able to visit Father Christmas in his gingerbread house based inside the old Corn Exchange building on the Market Place.
The Winter Wonderland will be open to the public every Thursday from November 28 from 5pm to 7pm and every Saturday from December 7 between midday and 4pm.
Once it gets closer to Christmas, it will be open every week day from December 16 until December 23 when you can enjoy the experience from 2pm to 5pm. All donations received will go to charity.
Val Hitchman, head of community services at Kettering Council, said: “There is an exciting line-up of activities in Kettering town centre in the run-up to Christmas this year.
“The programme of festivities we have put on will provide a range of attractions for the whole family.
