There will be a festival celebrating food in Corby this weekend.
On Saturday (June 15), Midlands Co-operative and Corby Community Food Co-operative will be holding a free event, Strawberry Festival Love Food, at the Stuart Road Community Centre.
The event runs from 11am to 3pm and will give people a chance to find out how to cook on a budget with fresh produce, how to make a perfect waffle, how co-operatives are run, and sample some delicious food. Children will be able to take part in face painting, games and henna painting.
Raminder Mahil, Member Activities Co-ordinator at Midlands Co-operative Society, said: “I’m looking forward to working with Corby Community Food Co-operative at what will be a fun, family event. We invite customers from our nearby food stores and the community to come and see what co-operatives are all about as well as taste some delicious food.”
Elizabeth Adongo, from Corby Community Food Co-operative, said: “As it is our aim to provide fresh, local and Fairtrade products, we thought Midlands Co-operative was a fitting partner to work with, especially being a fellow co-operative, too. We enjoy engaging with the community and this festival will be a great way for everyone to get involved.”
