Family fun day to raise money for family of Corby youngster battling cancer

A fun family day is being held to raise money for the family of a 10-year-old girl from the Corby area who has a very rare form of bone cancer.

Eve Lyons has been battling the illness – known as Ewing sarcoma – for 20 months but despite gruelling treatments her family say she has managed to keep her smile the whole time.

Members of Eve’s extended family are hosting a family fun day at the Conservative Club in Cottingham Road, Corby, on Saturday, March 25, from midday to 3pm.

There will be lots of fun for all the family and two of Eve’s cousins, Catherine, 14, and Rosie, 11, are being sponsored to have their heads shaved on the day.

In addition, there is a huge raffle with prizes including holidays, a wedding dress and Ed Sheeran goodies.

Darryl Fernandez, one of the organisers, said: “There’s lots of cake to be bought too.”

Eve featured in a Channel 4 ‘Stand up to Cancer’ awareness programme last October, which can be found at youtu.be/XFXd45uqB84.

She lives with her mum and dad, Suzanne and Tommy Lyons.

Her older sisters, Meg and Beth are studying in Guildford but return home to help as much as possible
