People who would like to learn more about volunteering opportunities available in Corby can go a special fair.
Corby VCS is holding a volunteer fair at Corby Cube on Monday, December 10, for potential volunteers to go along and see what opportunities various local organisations are offering.
The event has been organised to promote volunteering within the community, and make people aware of the many opportunities available. Volunteering allows people to make a difference in somebody’s life or a community, and is an excellent way to gain valued experience, fill spare time, meet new people or help them get back to work.
Organisations in attendance at the event include: Macmillan Cancer Support, CAB Welfare Rights, Teamwork Trust, Northamptonshire Association for the Blind, Delos, Northamptonshire Carers, Lakelands Hospice, Corby Heritage Centre, Northamptonshire Association of Youth Clubs and Adrenaline Alley.
Volunteer co-ordinator at Corby VCS Sue Mills said: “We are very excited about this event. It is an excellent opportunity for people to get involved with the Corby community. With a wide-range of opportunities from various organisations, there is something for everybody.”
A spokesman for Citizens Advice Services Corby & Kettering said: “We felt it was essential to be part of the Volunteer Fair as we are a charity and a great deal of our service delivery relies heavily on our volunteers. We are always keen to welcome new recruits to our team.”
