Three men tried to break into a village Post Office but failed despite numerous attempts.

The trio tried to get into Stanwick Post Office in the High Street at about 4.20am on Monday, March 24.

A police spokesman said the men were seen attempting to break into the post office through the front door.

The spokesman added: “A side gate had been smashed and another gate leading to a courtyard area had been forced open.

“An attempt had also been made to break in through the back of the shop and the padlock on a garden shed had been forced.”

The men wore dark clothing and had a motorbike.
