Explosives team called to Kettering home after discovery of WW2 devices

Police and an explosive disposal team were called to Highfield Road in Kettering this morning after Second World War ‘devices’ were discovered.

Officers who were carrying out a warrant at a house discovered a number of Second World War devices and called in the bomb disposal team at 9.45am. A section of the road was cordoned off and two houses adjacent to the property were evacuated.

The cordon was eventually lifted shortly before 12.45pm.

A police spokesman said: “The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team have carried out their examination of Second World War devices found by police at a house in Highfield Road this morning.

“The team have confirmed that there is no threat and a controlled explosion was not required.

“The area is now safe and the cordon has been removed. Officers would like to thank members of the public for their patience whilst the area was cordoned off.”
