The first sod has been cut as work gets under way on a new primary school.

GSSArchitecture, which has an office in Kettering, says it has designed the school in Goulsbra Road, Rushden, as “an inspirational learning environment, with flexible spaces that can accommodate learning groups of various sizes”.

It will have 14 classrooms for pupils aged five to 11, dining facilities, external play areas and parking.

The school, to be known as Rushden Primary Academy, is due to open in September 2015 and will be run by the Greenwood Dale Foundation Trust.
