Schoolchildren across the county have taken part in traditional May Day celebrations.

At Hawthorn Community Primary School in Kettering, pupils, parents and teachers watched the crowning of the May King and Queen and dancing around a May pole.

May Day celebrations originate from ancient pagan traditions and is a greeting of the summer.

Charlotte Buckingham was the Jack in the Green, the May Queen was Shekiana Amoateng and the May King was Thomas Schloesser, who were crowned by their predecessors from last year.
