Wellingborough cabbies have taken the ultimate knowledge test by sitting exams in taxi driving.

Drivers working for Wellingborough taxi company Lee Cabs have passed their first NVQs in transporting passengers by taxi and private hire.

Dave Flynn, Lynne Wilson, Sarah Mae, Steve Dainty, Sharon Groves, Carly Abazi and Steve Lynch are pictured with their exam certificates.

The training topics covered in the 15-hour course included customer service and how to drive in a professional manner.

The drivers were also given instruction in disability awareness, safety, how to carry baggage and parcels, map reading and route planning.

The NVQ also ensures that the cab drivers are up-to-date with the regulations and rules that apply to their line of work.

Steve Wright, managing director of the company, said: “We are the first firm in Wellingborough to have started this training.

“We have over 60 drivers, all of which will be offered placements on the programme.”
