A seven-year-old has won a new bench for his school after his design was chosen during a country fair this month.

Jake Tucker, from the Rothwell Victoria Infant School, designed an “Angry Birds” themed bench, which was selected by organisers of the Kelmarsh Game and Country Fair.

Pupils had been invited to take part in the competition, in which they were asked to design a countryside-inspired bench for the chance to win a hand-carved version for their school.

Jake’s design earned his school the prize of an owl-themed bench made by Irchester Country Park-based chainsaw carvers Spirits of Wood.

The bench now stands proudly in the school’s orchard.
