Students at Corby Business Academy have been bitten by the baking bug.

They have been showing off their cooking skills in an after-school baking competition, the Great Corby Business Academy Bake-Off.

Pupils bake a different item each week and after each heat the judges taste the finished products and pick a winner.

Restaurant manager at the school, Chris Lapsley, said: “The competition has been extremely popular with students and we have had pupils from Year 7 to Year 11 taking part.

“In the first rounds they have made biscuits and scones and some of them have really impressed us.”

Items baked in the competition go on sale the next day in the school’s restaurant.
