Students have been getting the inside track on how the European Parliament works.
Year 12 and 13 citizenship students at Huxlow Science College in Irthlingborough hosted an EU debate on May 7.
They had the opportunity to observe two members of the European Parliament, Bill Newton Dunn MEP and Derek Clarke MEP, present their opinions on the European Union and Britain’s membership in it.
A school spokesman said: “Not only did this give students an insight to the position of different political parties but it gave them an understanding of how the European Union operates from the point of view of current members.
“Students were able to ask questions which could help further their understanding and provided useful information to help them in their upcoming AS and A-Level examinations.
“This was a unique opportunity that the students genuinely enjoyed.”
