Hairdressing students at Tresham College in Corby reaped the benefits of a new enterprise which has set up in the town.

Hair Extensions Academy (HEA) is based at Corby Enterprise Centre and it was chosen by the college to provide its hair extensions training courses this year.

Students were presented with certificates after successfully completing an HEA training course with the academy’s head tutor Charlotte McGowan.

Nicola Barlow, director of the academy, said: “We decided to be based at the Corby Enterprise Centre as there is a high demand for hair extensions in Northamptonshire and surrounding counties, but there is a lack of qualified technicians with the proper qualifications or insurance to meet this demand.

“Our aim is to bridge this gap and as a fully-accredited training provider we are able to offer accredited qualifications.

“This qualification allows our learners to obtain the appropriate insurance to apply hair extensions and our courses also cover how people can start up their own business.”

Students can become qualified in hair extensions by completing one-day fast track training with the academy and courses are offered at Corby Enterprise Centre every Friday, starting from £295, which includes a full-hair extensions kit.

There are also group training packages for salons.
