A disabled teenager from Corby has been told she can join a beauty course at Tresham College after she was controversially barred on her first day.

Georgie Ready, 18, from Rockingham Road, was told she could not start the course because she was unable to hold a nail varnish pot in her left hand.

Mum Lynn Ready was furious with the decision, as she said that no concerns had been raised when Georgie attended an open day only a week earlier.

Georgie has now been told she can join the course.

Her mum said: “I am not happy with what happened, but I am delighted that we have got the right outcome.

“I think the college needs to ensure that other young people are not discriminated against in future.

“Georgie is delighted. We don’t know when her first day will be yet but we have a meeting next week.”
