People interested in joining a new Rushden drummers group should attend an information evening on Thursday, December 6, from 6pm to 8pm at St Peter’s Hall, Midland Road, Rushden.

The event is being held by members of the Waterloo Drummers group, who hope to recruit 20 new members.

People interested in joining its new Rushden group should go along.

There are vacancies for snare drummers, bass drummers, tenor drummers, cymbal players and marching-bell (glockenspiel) players as well as colour guard members – flag spinning and dance.

Meetings for the Waterloo Drummers Rushden stars on January 10, 2013 at St Peter’s Hall from 6pm to 8pm.

John Mander, one of the group’s leaders, said: “This is an exciting new project with membership open to young people and adults. No previous musical knowledge is necessary as we will teach. We offer the chance to play in a drum corps and perform at community events and shows. We are family orientated and have a great time at rehearsals and events.”

Potential flute players are also wanted. Tuition is available on Monday evenings from 6pm to 8pm at Huxlow Science Academy, Irthlingborough.

Details about membership are available from John Mander by calling 01933 412099 or by email to waterloo.drummers@btinternet.com. For further details visit www.waterloodrummers.org.
