The Desborough Community Development Trust charity has presented a cheque for £500 to Havelock Junior School to buy new books.

Headteacher Kier Dicken thanked the group and said: “We will be using the £500 to buy lots of the latest titles by the children’s favourite authors in order to enhance their enjoyment of reading.

“Research shows a clear link between reading for pleasure and academic performance throughout school.”

The group’s current chairman Gordon Harvey and previous chairman Robert Orr visited the school to make the donation. For more information about the community development trust visit www.desboroughcdt.org.uk.
