District’s first walking festival

The first East Northamptonshire Walking Festival kicks off on June 11 with a week of specially designed routes for ramblers and strollers alike.

The 10 walks, all of which are led by knowledgeable guides, include Nassington to Yarwell Mill, the Greenway in Rushden, around the picturesque village of Wadenhoe and a forage in the forest at Fineshade Woods.

East Northamptonshire Council tourism, promotion and development officer Karen Williams said: “If you’ve over-indulged throughout the Diamond Jubilee weekend, this is a great opportunity to get out and burn off some calories whilst exploring the beauty of East Northamptonshire.”

“There are walks to suit all ages, interests and abilities including those with restricted mobility, young ones in buggies and many of the walks welcome dogs so there’s no need to leave your best friend at home.

“We have a great choice of routes - there are shorter walks around the adventure trail at Stanwick Lakes while longer adventures include the Barnwell to Armston route or a tour of Lyveden New Bield and the surrounding countryside.”
