Two families who teamed up to win the title of the first Walt Disney World Family have returned from the trip of a lifetime to Florida.
There was no expense spared for the three-week VIP break at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando last month won by the Disney-mad Frith family of Northampton.
But Paul Frith, wife Anita, and their children, Jade and James, could add more people to the “winning” family, including other relatives, friends or colleagues, so family friends of more than 20 years, Richard Parris, his wife Karen and their children, Leah and Lana, of Burford Way, Wellingborough, joined them. James’ girlfriend, Ashleigh Sewell, 18, and Jade’s partner, Alice Bailey, also got to share the American dream with them.
Jade, who entered the nationwide competition to find a family which captured what Walt Disney is about, said: “We have all had such an incredibly magical time and have made memories which will last a lifetime.
“It was three weeks in our favourite place on earth, surrounded by our friends and family and the Florida sunshine, a real dream trip.”
Both families are big fans of Walt Disney World and had been trying to find a way to go together.
But the dream only came true when they were picked out of nearly 1,000 entrants to scoop the money-can’t-buy prize.
Their holiday included a stay at the Castle Suite in Cinderella Castle, where guests cannot pay to stay and very few including the likes of Hollywood A-lister Tom Cruise have been lucky enough to experience it.
The families also enjoyed private rides on attractions, opened the Magic Kingdom and took part in a parade at Animal Kingdom.
They will now appear in the official Walt Disney World Parks brochure.
