A nasty attack in Coronation Park, Corby, has prompted police to issue an appeal for witnesses.

A man was left with broken ribs and a broken nose following the assault in the park off Cottingham Road earlier in the summer.

Although someone has been arrested, police have appealed for anyone who may have seen the incident to come forward.

The man was walking through Corporation Park sometime between 5.40pm and 6pm on Monday, August 11, when he was allegedly approached by a gang of four men and punched and kicked to the floor.

He was left with significant bruising to his face and body, fractured ribs and a broken nose.

Officers investigating the alleged assault would like to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time or who knows anything about the incident.

The man arrested is currently on police bail.

There have been several anti-social and violent incidents in the town centre park in recent months.

Just a few days after this incident, there was a violent robbery in the same park. On Sunday, August 17, A man was punched in the face by a gang of six men who later stole cash from him and tried to remove his jacket.

Police say the two incidents are not linked.
