Students, their families and Huxlow Science College staff have been rewarded for all of their hard work with another very good set of Year 11 GCSE results.

A college spokesman said: “We believe strongly that every grade for every student matters and so we are particularly pleased with the fact that students of all abilities at Huxlow Science College have been so successful. We are also delighted that, in our 50th anniversary year, the college has achieved some of its very best results.”

A total of 99 per cent of students gained at least five GCSE passes and, of these, 97 per cent gained at least eight GCSE passes.

Seventy-seven per cent of students gained five or more A*-C passes and this is the fourth consecutive year the college has had results in excess of 70 per cent.

Of these, 59 per cent gained five or more passes at A*-C including English and maths – the highest ever figure.

The spokensman added: “Our most able students performed very well with 10 per cent of the year group gaining five or more A*-A grades this year and 34 per cent of students gained at least a grade C or better in every subject.

“As a specialist science college, we are particularly pleased with students’ outstanding achievements in science – 79 per cent of all students gained two high grade A*-C passes in GCSE science.”
