A DATE has been set for councillors to discuss plans to build two new supermarkets in Thrapston.
East Northamptonshire Council has revealed it will hear Sainsbury’s application and a separate application for a supermarket the Scotts site in Bridge Street at its planning meeting on Wednesday, July 4.
The meeting will start earlier than usual to give the committee extra time to fully consider the two major applications.
The meeting is set to begin at 6.30pm and depending on the progress that is made it could continue at 2pm on Thursday, July 5.
Full details of both applications are available on the council’s website or at the council’s Thrapston office.
Agendas and reports for the meeting will be available two weeks before the meeting.
In line with the council’s published procedures, up to three people will be allowed to speak on each application.
One person is allowed to speak on behalf of the parish or town council, one on behalf of objectors and either the applicant or their representative.
If several people want to speak for or against the same matter they will be asked to choose a spokesman to represent them. Otherwise requests will be dealt with on a first come, first served basis.
