Kettering Science Academy held its first school Zumba class yesterday, with staff and students alike getting involved in the dance-fitness craze.
The after-school event was organised by history teacher Marissa Cadman, in a bid to raise money to take students to the UK Rock Challenge in Portsmouth in April.
A group of 25 dancers from the school have been busy preparing for the national event, which was set up to give young people the chance to put together their own performing arts production.
Miss Cadman said: “All the students and staff really enjoyed the class and it was nice to bring them together in that sort of environment. I would definitely like to do it again and it would be great to set up an after-school Zumba class. “The students taking part in the Rock Challenge are doing lots of other fundraising activities themselves including a disco and sponsored events.”
Leading the class was instructor Silvia Rosado Perez, who runs Zumba classes for the public at KSA from 7pm on Wednesdays.
