A cyclist has been seriously injured in a collision with a car in Corby.

The accident happened on Thursday (September 19) at about 2.45pm on the A427 Cottingham Road, near to the mini roundabout in Westcott Way at the boating lake.

The air ambulance attended the scene and the injured man was treated by paramedics.

Police closed off a section of the road from the roundabout to the Abington Road junction.

A police spokesman said: “A pedal cyclist was crossing the road at the pedestrian crossing next to the Shell garage, when a green Ford Focus, driven by a 51-year-old man from Corby, was in collision with the cyclist.

“The cyclist, a 21-year-old man from Corby, was taken by air ambulance to University Hospital Coventry with serious injuries.”
