A dessert parlour has thanked its customers for their support since opening in Corby a year ago.
Since opening in Corporation Street, Corby, last August, Italgelato has had 75,000 customers through the doors and served more than 100,000 scoops of gelato.
Saturday was another busy day for the town centre business as hundreds of people packed into the ice-cream parlour to celebrate its first birthday, including a raffle for customers to win a hamper full of Italian goodies and litres of gelato.
General manager Tina Horton said: “It’s hard to believe we’ve been open a whole year.
“Sometimes it feels like a week, other times it feels like 10 years.
“Each month has brought about new challenges and lots of rewards.
“We’ve been made so welcome and supported by the good people of Corby.
“We’re really looking forward to the next 12 months.
“On behalf of myself and the staff, I’d like to say to say a big thank you to everyone who came in to help us celebrate.”
Joe Forlan started working at Italgelato at the same time as Rachel Eadie, and he said: “We both started on the very first day and it’s been a great year.
“It’s been great to watch the business grow and improve and look forward to being a part of it in the future.”
Erin and Lois Richards enjoyed the celebrations on Saturday, giving the ice-cream parlour 10 out of 10 and saying they couldn’t wait to go back.
Erin said: “It was great.
“My favorite bit was the marshmallows and whipped cream, they were yummy.”
And Lois added: “I had a hot chocolate fudge sundae, I thought it was delicious.”
The menu at Italgelato includes numerous flavours of gelato ice-cream and sorbet, waffles, crepes and cakes, as well as a range of hot and cold drinks and some savoury items.
Gelato is the Italian for ice-cream and by containing only 20 per cent air, bosses say their gelato is denser and richer.
