Hundreds of people lined the streets of Corby on Saturday (July 12) to cheer on the town’s carnival parade.

The sun shone as floats made their way from Oldlands Road, led by the Grampian Pipe Band, along Sower Leys Road, Gainsborough Road, Oakley Road, Elizabeth Street and into West Glebe Park.

At the park there was a host of attractions for families including a mini funfair, dancing displays, quad bikes and stalls.

Corby’s carnival court, including the queen Amber Howard, senior princess Lana Perry, junior carnival queen, Nakita Ritchie and junior princess Angel Cowan was joined by the UK carnival court with Savannah Streather from the town, its junior princess.

Courts from Wellingborough, Kettering, Newport Pagnell, Nuneaton, Irchester and Irthlingborough also took part.

Among the visitors to the event was a group of 20 guests from Corby’s German twin town of Velbert.
