A 57-year-old woman had her handbag stolen in Northamptonshire as she walked to the shops.

The woman was walking towards an underpass leading to the shops in Blackthorn at 2.15pm last Friday when a man walked past her.

He grabbed her handbag off her shoulder, causing her to fall to the ground.

The woman tried to keep hold of her handbag, but the man pulled it from her and ran off in the direction of Maidencastle.

The mugger was a white man in his late twenties to early thirties, medium build, clean shaven and about 5ft 7ins.

He had short, black, swept-back hair and was wearing a black, short sleeved shirt, black jeans, dark-coloured shoes and had a black jumper tied around his waist.

Police would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed crime or who has any information regarding it.
