A woman has been left with life-changing injuries and a man with serious injuries following an attack in Northampton last night.
A police spokeswoman said the two victims were set upon by a group of six or seven males some time between 10pm and 11.30pm in Harefield Road, Blackthorn.
Weapons were used, which are believed to have caused serious injuries caused to the victims, who were taken to University Hospital Coventry.
The offenders are believed to have been aged between 16 and 20.
Detective Inspector Adam Pendlebury, leading the investigation, said: “We believe this was an isolated attack that occurred following an altercation between the victims and the offenders. We have officers in the area to provide reassurance to the local community and gather any information people may have.
“Our priority now is to identify and apprehend those responsible for this violent attack.”
