A woman who was assaulted when a man stepped out of some bushes kicked her attacker in the shin and escaped.

Police are now appealing for information about the assault which occurred on the Oakley Vale estate in Corby late on Tuesday afternoon, March 12.

Between 5pm and 5.20pm, the woman was walking along a footpath joining Chatsworth Road and Boughton Road.

She was approached by a man who started talking to her in an east European accent.

The woman carried on walking but the man then ran past the woman and disappeared from view.

A little further along the footpath, the woman was then surprised when the man stepped out of some bushes by the side of the path.

The man said nothing but then grabbed the woman by the arm and kept hold of her. The woman kicked the man on his shin and managed to run away.

The offender is described as white, around 6ft tall and he was wearing a black top, black bottoms and a black winter hat. He was also carrying a rucksack over his shoulders.
