More than 40 drivers have been arrested by police during the first 10 days of their summer clampdown on drink driving.
The first four days of the campaign saw 21 motorists arrested, with another 23 arrested between June 5-10. This is 11 more than were arrested in the same 10-day period last year.
Superintendent Andy Cox, head of Specialist Operations, said: “This campaign demonstrates our commitment to making the county’s roads safer. The message is clear – if you get behind the wheel whilst under the influence of drink or drugs you will be taken off the road.”
The campaign began on Saturday, June 1, and will continue until Sunday, June 30.
