No further action will be taken against a Corby man who was arrested on suspicion of stirring up hatred by delivering potentially offence leaflets in Rugby.

The 53-year-old man was arrested on March 19 on suspicion of stirring up hatred on the grounds of religion or sexual orientation.

The man was arrested after police received reports of potentially offensive leaflets being put through letterboxes in Rugby.

A spokesman for the Crown Prosecution Service said: “The CPS was asked to consider a complaint involving the distribution of leaflets denouncing homosexuality in the Rugby area.

“While these leaflets were ill-informed and caused offence to members of the community targeted by this individual, they did not cross the high criminal threshold for prosecution, therefore, a decision was made to take no further action against the individual.”
