A mugger sneaked up behind his victim before hitting him to the head, knocking him to the ground and stealing his bank card.

Police are appealing for information after the robbery at 7.40pm on Saturday, March 30, in Swinburne Road, Wellingborough.

The victim, a 30-year-old man, was walking along Swinburne Road when he was approached from behind.

The victim was struck to the head which caused him to fall to the floor.

The offender then asked the victim for money. He removed the victim’s bank card from his wallet and left the scene.

The offender is described as a white man, aged in his late teens to early 20s, 5ft 10in tall, of a slim build. He is described as wearing a dark coloured hooded top with his hood pulled up.

The offender may have been with a second man.
