A man was killed in Northamptonshire in the early hours of this morning when he was hit by a car that drove away.

Police were called to the A4500 near Ecton just after 3.30am where the body of the man had been found.

They believed that he was hit by a car as he was walking in the road sometime between 2am and 3.30am.

The vehicle involved in the collision has not yet been identified and police would urge anyone who may have any information regarding the collision to contact them.

The stretch of road remains closed and drivers in the area are advised to use alternative routes while officers continue to investigate the collision.

Police officers are appealing for anyone who may have driven along the A4500 near Ecton between 2am and 3.30am, and witnessed a collision to come forward.

They would also like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed a man walking in the road between these times.
