Man has face ‘slashed’ after trying to break up fight in a Northamptonshire town centre

A man had his face slashed with a blade after trying to intervene in a fight between two men in Northampton town centre on Saturday morning.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the man was assaulted in Northampton between 5.40am and 6.10am in Horsemarket, close to the Gold Street junction.

The victim tried to intervene in an altercation between two men, who appeared to be fighting.

One of the men turned on the victim and attacked him with a blade, cutting his face and leaving him needing stitches.

Witnesses, or anyone with information, are asked to call Northamptonshire Police on 101.
