A 24-year-old man has been charged with arson after a fire which badly damaged a home in Farndish Road, Irchester, on Wednesday night.

David Waller, who gave the same address to the court as where the fire took place, is charged with arson, specifically damaging carpets, bedding and household items and being reckless as to whether property would be destroyed and intending by the damage to endanger the life of another.

Waller appeared at Corby Magistrates’ Court on Friday, April 26.

He was remanded into custody to appear at Northampton Crown Court on June 26.

Fire crews were called to the house fire at about 10.50pm on Wednesday and put out a blaze which badly damaged three bedrooms.

Smoke damage was caused to the rest of the property.
