People in Wellingborough are being invited to go along and speak to local police officers at a three-day event being held in the Swansgate Centre.

Officers and PCSOs will host the Have Your Say event in the centre from 10am to 4pm today and tomorrow.

The three-day event, aimed at promoting personal safety, started yesterday.

PCSO Chris Asante-Ampaduh was on hand to speak to people yesterday.

He said: “We are here to make elderly and vulnerable people aware of safety issues in the town at the moment, including problems around ATM machines and to provide crime prevention and safety advice.

“We are handing out personal attack alarms, offering advice and we are also pointing people in the direction of Neighbourhood Watch.”

Ian Fernley, chairman of Northamptonshire Neighbourhood Watch, is joining officers for the three-day event.

He said: “We are happy to support the police with all their Have Your Say events.

“Officers will be dealing with the criminal side of things, but I hope that we will also get some people who are interested in starting a Neighbourhood Watch, or finding out more about it.

“People can come along with any issues they have and we will try to help them if we can.”

Police cadets are also helping to man the stall.

Wellingborough sector coordinator Jazmin Tuttle said: “Our Have Your Say events are a great opportunity to meet local officers and PCSOs, raise issues and ask advice.”
