Four men have appeared in court charged with the manslaughter of a 41-year-old after a fight in a Kettering street last June.

Marc Sturgess, of Stamford Road, died on July 15 – about six weeks after the incident in which he suffered serious head injuries.

Police issued two appeals for witnesses after the incident, which took place in Barnwell Street, Kettering, late on Saturday, June 1.

Two Kettering men, Barry Denney, 42, of Edgar Road, and Jason Loake, 43, of St Matthews Road, appeared at the town’s magistrates’ court on Wednesday charged with offences of manslaughter and violent disorder.

They did not enter any pleas and will appear at Northampton Crown Court on Wednesday, April 16.

They will appear alongside two other Kettering men, Jake Freeland, 27, of Tordoff Place, and Ryan Turner, 19, of Poppy Fields.

Turner and Freeland, who both face charges of manslaughter, appeared before magistrates on Wednesday, March 26.

All four men have been granted conditional bail.
