A pensioner was left with a two-inch gash on his head after he was assaulted by a drunken man outside his house.
The pensioner, who is in his 80s, noticed the drunk staggering up the drive of his home in College Street, Higham Ferrers, at about 4.20pm on Monday, February 24.
When he challenged him, the drunk became abusive and claimed he had lost his way.
The pensioner ushered the man off his property and closed the gate behind him.
The drunk then pushed the gate back towards the pensioner, hitting him in the head and leaving him with a cut.
The man was white, about 40 years old, with messy grey hair and a local accent.
He was 5ft 9in or 5ft 10in tall, was unshaven and wearing a grey tracksuit.
He may have had a small cut close to his mouth after falling over a plant pot.
Witnesses to the incident, or anyone with information, should call Northamptonshire Police on 101.
