A sophisticated drug-dealing operation was blown apart as dozens of policemen raided seven houses, arresting eight suspected members of a drugs gang.
Up to 90 police officers, 20 wearing full body armour and balaclavas, were involved in the raid to close down a fortified drugs house known as ‘The Shop’ in Eastbrook, on the Lincoln estate in Corby.
Two other homes in the same street as well as two in Gainsborough Road, one in Fontwell Crescent on the Oakley Vale estate and one in Alexandra Street, Kettering, were the subject of co-ordinated raids at 1.45pm yesterday.
Officers armed with chainsaws, circular saws and other heavy duty tools entered the heavily fortified house and arrested several occupants. It is alleged those taken into custody were all associated with the same gang.
Police confirmed they had arrested three women aged 24, 31 and 53, and five men aged 19, 31, two aged 33 and a 35-year-old. Officers suspect them of drugs offences.
It follows the closure of three drug houses in Corby in 2010. Police raiding those houses made 15 arrests.
