More than 300 people have been breathalysed and 25 arrested in Northamptonshire Police’s Christmas crackdown on drink driving.
The force says 18 of those arrested have been charged since the campaign, called Operation Journey, began on December 1.
Inspector Jen Helm said: “Officers across the county are taking part in the Christmas operation day and night, to clamp down on offenders and prevent accidents and deaths on our roads.
“They are conducting tests and making arrests where necessary, as well as handing out leaflets and explaining what the operation is about. They are raising awareness and asking people to think before getting behind the wheel and plan ahead if they are planning on drinking.“
To report a suspected drink drive in confidence, call 0800 174615 or 999 if you think someone is drink or drug driving.
