Man tried to conceal robbery in Northamptonshire street using a leaflet

A man tried to rob a woman outside a working men's club in Northamptonshire town centre.

The attempted robbery happened on Friday, February 5 at about 1pm in Sheep Street, Northampton, when the man approached the victim to ask for change for a parking meter.

A police spokeswoman said: “As she was looking in her purse he took a £10 note out and concealed what he was doing by putting a leaflet over his hand.

“The victim shouted at him and retrieved her money.”

The man is described as olive skinned, about 6ft, aged about 30 and slim with short dark hair.

He was wearing dark clothing.
