A murder investigation has been launched after the body of a man was discovered at a property in Northampton.

Police officers were called to the first floor flat in Patterdale Walk, Boothville, Northampton, at around 5am and discovered the body.

The cause of death is not yet known but it is being treated as suspicious.

A spokeswoman said: “An investigation by officers from East Midlands Special Operations Unit (EMSOU) into the man’s death is under way and a scene guard remains in place at the property.”

Four people have been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the incident and are helping police with their inquiries.

A team of forensics officers were still searching for evidence this afternoon.

Neighbours said the man lived alone in his flat and several described him as ‘vulnerable’.

One neighbour said: “We’d see him walk back and forwards to go and play snooker and things. He was quite unsteady on his feet.

“Not many people round here knew him . He kept himself to himself but he seemed a nice man.”
