An 18-year-old refuse collector suffered head and pelvic injuries when he was hit by a car while he worked in Old on Wednesday morning (March 26).

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision, which happened in Lamport Road, near the centre of the village, at about 8.15am.

A black Honda CRV, driven by a 28-year-old woman from Spratton, was travelling towards Walgrave.

As it was overtaking a stationary refuse collection vehicle, it collided with one of the operatives.

The bin man, an 18-year-old man from Northampton, was taken to University Hospital Coventry with suspected pelvic and head injuries.
